Consisting of three elegant buildings, the Villa, the Villino and Casa del Sole, The Villa Hotel is harmoniously set within the slopes of the hill above Alassio.
The Villas are surrounded by a luxuriant garden that blends Mediterranean vegetation with various types of rare plants and fabulous exotic flora. It boasts a unique history intertwined with that of the British community that chose this corner of the Riviera as one of its favourite winter resort destinations throughout the 19th century.
The two refurbished late 19th century villas, faithfully preserved and restored under architect Ettore Mocchetti, authentically replicate the lay out of British residences from the Victorian period in India and Malaysia, bringing to life the elegant taste and atmosphere of the fin de siècle through meticulously studied furniture and a fine collection of watercolours and Victorian and Edwardian paintings.
Set apart within a corner of the flourishing garden, Casa del Sole, meaning 'house of the sun', owes its name to its special location that floods it with endless natural light.
It was at one time the favourite venue for the ubiquitous afternoon tea and leisurely moments spent by the Dalrymples and then the Hanburys. Thanks to its privacy, it represents the ideal setting for top-class relaxation amid a secluded haven of greenery.
The Park, restored by architect Paolo Pejrone, extends over an area of 22,000 sq m and is renowned for the abundance of its Mediterranean flora and exotic evergreens.
